Hi everyone! Nothing like a world-wide pandemic and shelter-in-place orders to free up some time to record a podcast. This is actually something I’ve been thinking about for a while. As an instructor and previous examiner, I’ve been asked by clincians how to best prepare for a rigorous examination process for an advanced certification. What follows is my advice after going through two examination processes myself, serving as an instructor for various courses, and serving as an examiner. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you Matt for the recommendations. I hear a lot of therapist claim the reason why therapist go through the process of adding certifications to their name is because they just want to have alphabet soup or because they want to seem more important. Some might do it for those reasons, but I think most therapist want to become better. The process you describe of going through your schedule and writing down how and why you would use certain techniques is a great way to not only get faster but also ensures the best technique is used. I think everyone should do this every so often not just when studying for an advanced certification.
