The creator and author of manualtherapy.blog is Matthew S. Thomason PT, DPT, OCS, CFMT, FFMT, CMPT, FAAOMPT. He is a native of South Carolina, where he graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management prior to completing coursework at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Dr. Thomason is a graduate of the Institute of Physical Art’s (IPA) Orthopedic Residency program, as well as an intense year-long Fellowship program. He has successfully completed the examination to be a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT), with distinction, through the IPA. In addition to his training in funcitonal manual therapy, Dr. Thomason has completed the curriculum with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) and will be sitting for their highest level of certification (COMT) later this year. Dr. Thomason is also a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist in physical therapy as recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).
Currently, Dr. Thomason lives and practices in Chico, CA and teaches continuing education seminars with the Institute of Physical Art and Comprehensive Manual Therapy Seminars.
